HUNTINGDON, PA- Needing one victory to break a 4-4 tie, the Juniata women's tennis team got the decision it needed as they defeated Catholic 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at Rafensberger Courts. The win puts the Eagles at 6-3 while the Cardinals fall to 7-3 overall.

 

The match came down to sixth singles as Tori Gray (York, PA/Central York) faced off against Maria Flores. Gray, playing in her first match of the season, took the first set 7-5 and easily took the second one 6-2 to pick up the win.

 

The Eagles won all three of their doubles matches. The second doubles pair of Gray and Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, CA/Monta Vista) went to a deciding tiebreaker where the duo came out with a 9-8 triumph.

 

Koh was the only other Eagle player to win her singles match. She improved to 4-1 at the fourth spot with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Emma Needham.

 

The Eagles will host Messiah in a non-conference match on Thursday. Start time will be at 3:30 p.m.
