HILTON HEAD, SC- The women's tennis team dropped only one match on the day as it defeated Baldwin Wallace 8-1 on Monday at the Port Royal Plantation in Hilton Head, SC. The win improves the Eagles' record to 3-1 overall while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-6.

 

JC won two of three matches in doubles play. The third doubles pair of Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, CA/Monta Vista) and Samantha Hendricks (McVeytown, PA/Mifflin County) easily won 8-2. The first doubles duo of Heather Waring (San Antonio, TX/John Jay) and Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH/Padua Franciscan) dropped an 8-4 decision to the team of Kelsey Blatt and Mackenzie Donalson but Katharine Conklin (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) and Cara Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) won 8-4 against Claire Watts and Mackenzi Baker to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

 

Juniata swept in singles. Waring (6-3, 6-3) and Yurchisin's (6-1, 6-3) wins put the Eagles ahead 4-1. Koh's 6-1, 6-2 victory in fourth singles clinched the match for JC.

 

The Eagles play two matches tomorrow. Juniata will face Nazareth first at 8 a.m. followed by Rhodes at 6:30 p.m.
