Eagles Fall to Gettysburg on Final Day of Regular Season

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Juniata College women's tennis team finished the regular season today with a 6-3 loss to Gettysburg College. The Eagles are now 11-5 on the year and move onto the Landmark Conference tournament where they will face the No. 1 seeded Royals from The University of Scranton, Tuesday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m. in Scranton, Pa.

 

Juniata fell into an early 2-1 hole after double play with freshman Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) and junior Cara Stough (Friendsville, Md. / Northern Garrett) earning the lone win at the No. 3 position. The pair improves to 2-3 on the year having won both matches in the three slot.

 

In singles play, junior Heather Waring (San Antonio, Texas / John Jay) won her seventh dual match singles of the season, all at the No. 1 position. Sophomores Tori Gray (York, Pa. / Central York) and Jacklyn Renninger (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central) put the Eagles on top 4-3 after winning No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively. But the Bullets came back to capture No. 4 and then No. 2 singles for the win.

 

Juniata will have three days off from competition before the opening match of the postseason tournament.
