Juniata Falls to Moravian, 6-3, in Landmark Match

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's tennis team suffered just its second loss of the season Wednesday night, falling 6-3 in Landmark Conference play to Moravian College. The Eagles dropped to 7-2 on the year, 0-2 in Landmark play, and will next face McDaniel College at home Friday, April 4, at 3 p.m.

 

Junior Heather Waring (San Antonia, Tx./John Jay) and senior Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) teamed up for the first win of the day for the Eagles. The duo won its fourth consecutive double match at the No. 1 position taking the contest 8-4 for the only doubles win of the day for Juniata.

 

Sophomore Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) wrestled back from a tight 6-7 first set loss to take the No. 4 singles position, winning the final two sets 6-0 and 10-6. Koh and doubles partner Tori Gray (York, Pa. / Central York) fell in the No. 2 position 8-6, but both bounced back in singles with Gray capping off the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

 

The Eagles will take on the Green Terror at home in a non-conference match before returning to league play with battle at The University of Scranton.
