HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Juniata College women's tennis team continued to roll in the opening week of play, capturing an 8-1 win over Richard Stockton University (RSU). The Eagles (3-0) swept all six singles positions without dropping a set and took the doubles matches 2-1.

Junior Heather Waring (San Antonio, Tx./John Jay) and senior Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) bounced back for a loss yesterday to take the No. 1 doubles position 6-1, 6-0. Phillips won her singles match at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-2, and Waring only dropped one game at the No. 1 singles position, winning 6-1, 6-0.

The pair of freshman Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and sophomore Jacklyn Renninger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) improved to 8-1 in doubles, 2-0 in dual match doubles, with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Yurchisin battled hard to a 6-3, 6-4, win at No. 2 singles while Renninger made her way through No. 6 singles only dropping two games.

Sophomore Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) claimed the 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 and classmate Tori Gray (York, Pa./Central York) finished out singles with the dominant 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.

The Eagles will be right back to the court at 8 a.m. tomorrow, March 11, for a dual match against Nazareth College. Juniata will finish out spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. with matches against Gordon College and Greenville College on Wed., March 12, before opening the 2014 Landmark Conference season on the road at Catholic University of America. The women open the home season Wed., March 19, at 3:30 p.m. against Lycoming College.
