HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's tennis team has now won four of its last five matches after sweeping York College 9-0 Saturday afternoon. Juniata (11-4) currently has the second-best team record in program history with three matches remaining before the Landmark Conference Championships.
Sophomore Heather Waring (San Antonio, Texas/John Jay) earned her fifth straight singles win at the No. 1 position by defeating Dea Vlahos (8-2) in a pro set. She and partner Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) defeated Vlahos and Megan McCullin 8-1 in No. 1 doubles. The pair are on a three-match win streak and have won four of their last five.
Freshman Jacklyn Renninger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) had a great day on the court. After she and partner Cara Stough (Friendsville, Md./Northern Garrett) defeated Lauren Valles and Emily Skutnik (8-2) in No. 3 doubles, Renninger went on to sweep Nikki Olson (8-0) in No. 3 singles.
The No. 4-6 singles won their matches in 32 games to York's five.
Juniata is back on the road again. The Eagles will face Susquehanna University on Wednesday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. and then take on Moravian College on Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m.
