HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Juniata College women's tennis team went 2-1 in its final three matches over spring break after sweeping Alfred 9-0. The Eagles topped Messiah (6-3) before falling to Mount Union (6-3) but closed out the week with a 7-2 win over Heidelberg. Juniata is 6-1 in dual matches this season.
Sophomore Cara Stough went 5-1 in the three matches. She was undefeated (3-0) at the No. 4 singles position and went 2-1 with freshman Jacklyn Renninger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) at the No. 3 doubles position.
Also earning five wins was Tori Gray (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley). The sophomore went undefeated in singles, picking up two wins at the No. 5 spot and one at No. 6. She and freshman Mitsuki Koh (York, Pa./Central York) went 2-1 at the No. 2 doubles position.
Renninger picked up an additional two wins of her own, finishing 2-1 in No. 3 singles. Sophomore Charlotte Caddick (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) made her first appearance this season. She defeated Heidelberg's Melissa Lovati in No. 5 singles for her first win of the year.
Juniata prepares to open its home and conference season Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m. They will take on Scranton, the reigning Landmark Conference champions. The Eagles fell 5-1 when the programs last season.
