Women's Swimming Maintain Eighth at Day Two of Landmark Champs

BALTIMORE, Md.- The Juniata women's swimming team took part in the second day of the Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, maintaining the team's eighth-place position in the points standings. 

The team of Kara Mette, Emma Mumau, Kristen Miller, and Grace Finch competed in the lone relay on Friday, the 400-yard medley relay. They earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 4:17.32, helping to hold Juniata's eighth-place spot in the points standings for the second consecutive day. 

In the earlier session, the team had individuals compete in preliminaries from the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, and the 50-yard freestyle.  

In the morning-opening 500-yard freestyle, Maegan Jordan finished in 23rd place with a time of 5:52.24. It's a new personal record for Jordan, a 5.00-second reduction from her time set at Wilkes in January. Amanda Puza was 27th with a time of 6:09.84, her best time of the year in the event by 24.59 seconds. 

Mumau and Manali Misra raced in the 200-yard IM. Mumau placed 22nd with a time of 2:26.84, which is her best time of the year by 3.86 seconds. Misra was 25th with a time of 2:38.73. 

Finch, Miller, Megan McConnell, and Snabu Neupane wrapped up Friday preliminaries in the 50-yard freestyle. Miller had the team's best time, 26.42, to earn 22nd place, setting a new season-best time by 1.24 seconds., Finch was right behind in 23rd with a time of 26.94, a 0.49-second improvement on her best time of 2023-24. McConnell was 33rd with a time of 33.47, taking 2.39 seconds from her previous best, while Neupane was 34th with a time of 37.55, a new PR that was a 1.78-second reduction. 

Juniata ends day two with 52 points, six points ahead of ninth-place Wilkes and 24 points down on seventh-place Goucher. 

The women's swimming team is slated to take part in four preliminaries tomorrow including the 400-yard IM, the 100-yard butterfly, the 100-yard breaststroke, and the 100-yard backstroke.
