Women's Swimming Face Elizabethtown and Penn State Altoona in Dual Meet

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata women's swimming competed competed in the last dual meet ahead of Landmark Swimming Championships in February, as they faced off against Elizabethtown College and Penn State Altoona. Juniata fell 164-81 to hosts Elizabethtown, while Penn State Altoona bested the Eagles 133-98. A couple of Eagles picked up event wins, with Kara Mette earning first in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke, while Emma Mumau won the 200-yard breaststroke.  

Mette won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.34, besting seven other competitors. She was first out of nine in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.86. Mumau won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:44.36, beating three other competitors.  

The team of Mette, Mumau, Kristin Miller, and Grace Finch started the day in the 200-yard medley relay, earning second place from a field of five with a time of 2:01.25.  

To conclude the meet, Mumau, Mette, Maegan Jordan, and Miller placed in second place of five teams who raced in the 200-yard freestyle relay. They completed the event in 1:53.68.  

Jordan earned third place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:20.07. It's a new personal best, breaking her time of 12:23.79 set at Moravian in 2021. 

Miller, Finch, and Amanda Puza raced in the 200-yard freestyle. Miller earned fifth place with a time of 2:16.12. Finch earned eighth place with a time of 2:26.47, while Puza was tenth with a 2:31.10.  

In addition to Mette's victory, Neupane also raced in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in ninth with a time of 1:38.15. 

Mumau's 100-yard breaststroke earned her third place with a time of 1:14.27, while Manali Misra finished in sixth place with a time of 2:00:00.  

Puza also raced in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in second place with a time of 3:00.88. 

Finch and Neupane raced in the 50-yard freestyle, with Finch finishing seventh with a time of 28.70, while Neupane was ninth as she clocked in at 41.58. 

Misra was seventh with a time of 1:06.70 in the 100-yard freestyle, while Neupane was eighth with a time of 1:30.83.  

Jordan also raced in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in fifth place with a time of 2:35.93.  

Puza competed in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in seventh place with a time of 6:49.61. 

Mette earned first in the 100-yard butterfly, while Miller was third with a time of 1:08.18, and Finch was sixth with a time of 1:14.63.  

Jordan and Misra both took part in the 200-yard IM. Jordan was sixth with a time of 2:37.09, while Misra was seventh with a time of 3:03.60.  

The Juniata women's swimming team is back in action for the four-day Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at Loyola University.
