Women's Swimming Picks Up Landmark Sweep of Lycoming and Wilkes

WILKES BARRE, Pa.- The Juniata women's swimming team picked up a pair of victories over Landmark Conference opponents at a dual meet between Wilkes University and Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon. They defeated hosts Wilkes 101-60 and Lycoming 99-65. 

The team of Kara Mette, Emma Mumau, Kristen Miller, and Grace Finch started the day by besting a Wilkes team in the 200-yard medley with a time of 2:00.97. It's Juniata's quickest 200 medley time this season and a 0.60-second improvement from the Cougar Splash at Misericordia in November. 

Miller and Amanda Puza competed in the 200-yard butterfly, with Miller winning the event with a time of 2:37.09. Puza claimed third with a time of 2:58.29.  

Mette bested two other competitors to win the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:22.57.  

Maegan Jordan claimed second place from four in the 500-yard freestyle, logging a time of 5:57.23. 

Mette and Mumau each logged a time in the 200-yard freestyle, with Mette claiming second with a time of 2:14.54 and Mumau finishing third in 2:18.10.  

Miller, Megan McConnell, and Snabu Neupane competed in the 50-yard freestyle. Miller finished in second with a time of 27.66, while McConnell was seventh with a time of 35.86, a new PR that saw he take 1.62 seconds off last week's time at Stevenson. Neupane was ninth, logging a 39.79. 

Finch, McConnell, and Neupane raced in the 100-yard freestyle. Finch had the team's best time, 1:05.05, to finish in fourth. McConnell was seventh with a personal-best time of 1:20.00, a four-second reduction on her previous best, and Neupane was eighth, finishing in 1:30.29, a new PR that's 0.91 seconds quicker than one week prior.  

Jordan and Manali Misra were the lone competitors in the 400-yard IM, with Jordan claiming the win with a time of 5:32.10. Misra was second with a time of 6:00.00. 

Mumau and Misra were the only two to race in the 200-yard breaststroke to conclude the individual events. Mumau had the best time, at 2:43.02, while Misra finished at 3:04.96. 

Puza finished in fourth place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 14:00.99. 

Juniata finished the afternoon in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Finch, Puza, Misra, and Jordan finished in second place with a time of 2:01.32.
