Mette, Jordan, Mumau Win Events at Stevenson Dual Meet

OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Juniata women's swimming team returned to competition following the winter break with a dual meet against Stevenson and Lebanon Valley. Against Lebanon Valley, Juniata fell 96-78, while they were defeated 132-60 against hosts Stevenson. Individually, Kara Mette won a pair of events, including the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke, Maegan Jordan won the 500-yard freestyle, and Emma Mumau won the 100-yard breaststroke.  

The team of Kara Mette, Emma Mumau, Grace Finch, and Manali Misra started the afternoon by finishing in second place from the five teams competing in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 2:05.53. 

Mette later won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:30.73, besting seven other competitors. Mette also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.82. Megan McConnell and Snabu Neupane set new best times in the event, with McConnell finishing in ninth with a time of 1:34.82 and Neupane claiming tenth with a time of 1:35.77. 

Maegan Jordan set a 6:00.35 to win the 500-yard freestyle, the best time of five competing, and a new personal best time by nine seconds. She later finished in second place in the 1000-yard freestyle, logging a 12:29.91 to reduce her previous best time by a couple of seconds. 

Mumau won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.95, beating six others racing in the event. She also logged a 200-yard freestyle time, finishing in second place from a field of eight with a time of 2:15.18. 

Finch, McConnell, and Neupane each logged 50-yard freestyle times. Fifteen competed in the event, with Finch leading the way in fifth with a time of 28.72. McConnell was 10th, finishing in 37.48 for a new best time, while Neupane was 11th with a time of 39.33, also setting a new PR. 

Misra was the Eagles' lone 100-yard butterfly competitor, and she claimed fourth place with a time of 1:20.65. 

Finch was fifth out of ten in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:05.70. 

The Juniata women's swimming team continues their build-up to Landmark Conference Championships as they head to a dual meet on Saturday, January 20th, featuring Landmark opponents Wilkes and Lycoming on Wilkes' campus.
