Women's Swimming Competes in Second Day of Cougar Splash

DALLAS, Pa.- The Juniata women's swimming team finished the 2023 leg of the 23-24 season with the final day of the Cougar Splash at Misericordia University, competing in a morning and afternoon session.

Juniata started the morning session with the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Kara Mette, Emma Mumau, Grace Finch, and Maegan Jordan. They claimed ninth with a time of 2:01.57 to earn eight points for the team score.

Jordan, Finch, Amanda Puza, and Kristen Miller later competed in the 200-yard freestyle. Jordan had the team's best time, a 2:14.68 that earned 18th place. Miller was right behind with a 2:15.99 to finish 19th, while Finch and Puza were 24th and 25th, respectively, with times of 2:27.19 and 2:27.45.

Mumau and Misra were competitors in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Mumau earning a couple of points with an 11th-place finish with a time of 1:13.56. Misra was in 15th with a time of 1:17.73.

Mette, Snabu Neupane, and Megan McConnell competed in the 100-yard backstroke, with Mette earning three points in tenth place with a time of 1:04.22. Neupane was 20th with a 1:41.85, and McConnell was 21st with a time of 1:44.38.

Juniata finished the morning with Finch, Puza, Jordan, and Miller competing in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team earned ninth place with a 9:28.13 mark to claim eight more points towards the team score.

Jordan and Puza began the afternoon session with the 1650-yard freestyle. Jordan was 14th with a time of 20:30.33, while Pizza finished one spot behind at 23:12.60. 

Miller raced in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 17th place with a time of 2:34.81.

Mette, Neupane, and Finch each competed in the 100-yard freestyle next, with Mette posting Juniata's best time of 58.74 for 18th place. Finch was 24th with a time of 1:01.44, and Neupane finished in 29th, clocking in at 1:31.20. 

Mumau and Misra went next in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Mumau claiming three points with a tenth-place finish with a time of 2:40.52. Misra was 14th, finishing in 2:54.10. 

Miller, Misra, Finch, and Mette concluded the day with the 400-yard freestyle, finishing in 11th place with a time of 4:06.33.

Juniata ended the Cougar Splash in sixth place with a score of 42.

The women's swimming team will compete again on Saturday, January 13th, at a tri-meet hosted by Lebanon Valley College, while Stevenson University will also compete.
