Women's Swimming Returns to Competition Against Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md.- The Juniata women's swimming team returned to competition at an away meet against Goucher on Saturday, falling 142-88. Both swim teams returned to varsity competition after a pause in the program in 2022-23.

The day was highlighted by three individual event wins for Kristen Miller and two for Grace Finch.

Maegan Jordan was the first competitor for Juniata, as she opened the day, finishing ahead of her one competitor in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:37.81. She also logged a time in the 100-yard butterfly, claiming second place in 1:17.57. She was also second from four in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing the event in 1:14.88.  

Three Eagles competed in the 50-yard backstroke, and Kristen Miller took victory in the event, finishing first from six with a time of 33.13. Megan McConnell finished in fifth place with a time of 47.43, while Snabu Neupane was in sixth place with a time of 48.84.  

Miller was also the victor in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:03.59 to beat two opponents from Goucher. Her third victory of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle, where she was the first of four to complete the distance, finishing in 6:19.41. 

Grace Finch competed in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing first from a field of three with a time of 2:25.31. Finch also was the best of six swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 28.75. Snabu Nepane finished the event in fifth with a time of 45.60, while Megan McConnell completed the race in 47.64. 

Finch was in third place of four competing in the 50-yard butterfly, finishing the race in 31.26.  

Manali Misra competed in two events as an individual, finishing the 50-yard breaststroke in 38.82 as the lone competitor and claiming second from three in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.74. She was also second place of three in the 100-yard IM, finishing the event in 1:16.71.  

The relay team of Finch, Jordan, Misra, and Miller logged the team's first 200-yard freestyle relay time of the season, and they completed the event in 1:57.35 for second place from three teams. 

The Juniata women's swimming team hosts a home tri-meet with Lock Haven and Lycoming next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
