Swim Teams Close Out Strong Weekend at Landmark Champs

BOYDS, Md.- The Landmark Conference Swim & Diving Championships came to a close on Sunday night, with both Juniata swim teams involved in the final day's action.

Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) took seventh place in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 16:58.88 and rounding out his strong weekend with another top-10 finish. His teammate Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) closed out his weekend with an 11th place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 2:13.47. The two seniors will graduate as highly decorated student-athletes and Juniata record-holders. The men finished in seventh in the meet with a total of 48 points.

For the women, senior Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) claimed 12th place in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 19:06.15.

Fifth Year Tabi Dettelback took 14th place in the 200 Yard Backstroke, finishing at 2:18.90, while seniors Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area) and Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek) took 24th and 25th in the 100 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 58.74 and 59.37 seconds respectively. Caitlyn DeNapoli (Wyomissing, Pa. / Wyomissing) claimed 28th with her time of 1:02.77.

Emma Mumau (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset) earned ninth place in the 200 Yard Breastroke, with her time of 2:31.48, placing her third on Juniata's All-Time List for the event. Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area) finished in 20th, clocking in at 2:51.33. Sophomore Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area) took 12th place in the 200 Yard Butterfly, with her time of 2:28.02, putting her eighth all-time in Juniata history.

 White, Miller, Canale, and Diamond would then team up to earn 6th place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, finishing with a time of 3:54.85.

The women's collective results would earn them sixth place overall, finishing with 183 points. Both teams return home after an incredible weekend that caps off an excellent 2021-22 season.
