Mona and White Take Top 5 Finishes, Walker Breaks School Record on Day 2 of Landmark Champs

BOYDS, Md.- Competition continued at the 2021-22 Landmark Swim & Diving Championships today, with representatives from the men's and women's teams of Juniata swimming throughout the day.

For the women, the relay team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, M.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Emma Mumau (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset), Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area), and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area) earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.99. Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) earned a spot in the A final of the 400 Yard IM and then took a fifth-place finish, clocking in at 4:51.05 and very nearly breaking Juniata's All-Time record in the event.

Miller placed 15th in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:03.67 and claiming the 10th spot on Juniata's All-Time List for the event.

Mumau also snagged an 11th place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.43. The result also puts her fourth all-time in Juniata history in the event.

Dettelback finished 13th in the 100 Yard Backstroke, with her time of 1:03.91 being only narrowly short of her career-best.

Dettelback and White teamed up with Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area) and Maegan Jordan (Irwin, Pa. / Norwin) for their last event of the day, the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay. They finished sixth with a time of 8:41.50.

The two men competing for Juniata both had big days in the pool. Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) earned fourth place in the 400 Yard IM with a final time of 4:21.05. Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) would then take 11th place in the 100 Yard Butterfly while also etching his name in the Juniata history books with his school-record breaking time of 55.88 seconds.

After 28 events over the first two days of competition, the Juniata women sit in sixth place with 135 total points, while the men are seventh with 30 points. The meet will conclude tomorrow after another full day of competition and a ceremony to honor the conference's seniors.
