Eagles Compete in Second Day of the Cougar Invitational

DALLAS, Pa.- The Juniata women's swimming team competed on the second day of the Cougar Splash Invitational at Misericordia University on Saturday. The Eagles were in the pool with Misericordia University, Moravian University, Suny Brockport, York College, and Wilkes University.

Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) placed second in the 400 yard IM race with a time of 4:54.63. Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area HS) placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.00. In the 200 yard freestyle, Maegan Jordan placed seventh at 2:07.44, Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) placed eleventh at 2:13.40, Diamond placed fifteenth at 2:20.22, and Puza placed seventeenth at 2:22.47. 

The 200-yard medley relay team made up of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS)Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area HS), and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) swam a collected time of 2:00.05, placing them at fifth. The second 200-yard medley relay team of Shannon Thoma (Churchville, Pa. / William Tennent HS), Emma Mumau (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset HS), Amanda Puza (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas High School), Caitlyn DeNapoli (Wyomissing, Pa. / Wyomissing High School) placed ninth with a time of 2:13.95. 

Mumau, Sprowls, and DeNapoli all competed in the 100-yard breaststroke race. Mumau placed third with a time of 1:13.97; Sprowls came in right behind her in fourth with a time of 1:16.55. DeNapoli placed tenth with a time of 1:32.26. Dettelback placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:05.41, Jordan placed eleventh at 1:08.26, and Thoma placed eighteenth at 1:28.36. 

The final race was the 800-yard freestyle as the team of Sprowls, Dettelback, White, and Jordan placed third with a time of 8:43.73. 

The Juniata swimming team will compete at home against Chatham on January 14th.
