Women's Swim Competes in Cougar Invitational

DALLAS, Pa. – The women's swim team traveled to Misericordia Friday to compete in the 2021 Cougar Splash Invitational. 

In the first event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS), Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area HS), Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS), and Kendra White(Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) placed sixth and finished with a time of 1:48.35, and Caitlyn DeNapoli (Wyomissing, Pa. / Wyomissing High School), Maegan Jordan, Emma Mumau (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset HS), and Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) finished with a time of 1:52.38 placing seventh.

In the 500 yard freestyle, White finished fifth with a time of 5:40.03, while Sprowls finished ninth with a time of 5:50.60. Canale finished 14th with a time of 6:07.33 and Amanda Puza (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas High School) finished 16th with a time of 6:45.22.

In the 200 yard IM, Jordan placed second with a time of 2:22.34, Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan) placed third with a time of 2:24.15, Mumua placed fourth with a time of 2:28.92. 

In the 50 yard free, Diamond and Miller placed 12th and 13th with times of 26.84 and 26.92 respectfully, while DeNapoli placed 19th with a time of 28.65 and Shannon Thoma (Churchville, Pa. / William Tennent HS) placed 21st finishing with a time of 29.38. 

The team of Dettelbeck, Sprowls, Miller, and White placed fifth in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:27.81, while the team of Jordan, Mumua, Puza, and Canale placed seventh, finishing with a time of 4:41.15. 

This puts the Eagles in third place at the end of day one of the invitationals. The women's swim team is back at Misericordia Saturday, December 4 at 10 a.m. for day two of the 2021 Cougar Splash Invitational.
