Eagles Soar in First Race of the Season

BALTIMORE, Md.- The Juniata women's swimming team traveled to Goucher on Saturday afternoon to compete for the first time this season. The Eagles won the dual meet by a score of 105 to 98 over the Gophers.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS)Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area HS), and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) placed first with a time of 2:00.60. 

Kendra White ( Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle times of 12:05.45 and 5:53.62. Teammate Sharon Shaju (India / Heritage Experiential Learning School) placed second behind White in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:13.61.

Dettelback and Miller took first in solo races as well. Dettelback took first in the 100-yard backstroke at 52.94 and Miller won the 100-yard butterfly at 1:07.00. Sprowls wrapped it up for the Eagles by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:08.20.

The Eagle will be back in the water on November sixth when they will travel to Scranton.
