Women’s Swimming Closes Out Landmark Championships with Best Team Finish Ever

BOYDS, Md.- The Juniata women's swim team closed out the three-day Landmark Championship meet with their best team finish since 2012.  The Eagles finished fifth with 218 points. 

This morning during prelims, Carolann Edwards (Heston, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) placed 17th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:29.50. In the 100 free, Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) finished 21st coming in with a time of 58.72 while Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) finished 25th touching the wall at 59.53. 

In the mile, Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) finished eighth coming in with a time off 18:49.28, Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) finished 19th with a time of 20:59.59, and Emma Pinto (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional HS) finished 21st with a time of 22:32.74. 

To start off the final day of finals, Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan) finished 14th coming in with a time of 2:16.43. Dettelback cut one second off her swim from the morning session. In the 200 breaststroke, Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook) finished eighth touching the wall at 2:33.08 while Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS) finished 13th with a personal best time of 2:40.52. 

In the final event of the weekend the Eagles placed sixth in the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 3:50.82. The team consisted of Sanidad, Brubaker, Sprowls, and Diamond. 

In total the men's and women's team's combined for 31 personal best times. 

The final standings:

  2. Scranton: 719 points 
  3. Susquehanna: 613 points 
  4. Drew: 564.5 points 
  5. Juniata: 218 points 
  6. Elizabethtown: 208 points 
  7. Goucher: 89 points
