Swimming Posts Seven Best Times on Day Two of Landmark Championships

BOYDS, Md.- The Juniata men's and women's swim teams completed day two of the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, Saturday evening. The women currently sit in fifth with 163 points while the men remain in seventh with 30 points.

This morning in the 200 free, Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) (2:11.68) finished 23rd, Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) (2:11.78) finished 24th, and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) (2:12.10) finished 26th. In the 100 backstroke, Carolann Edwards (Heston, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) finished 19th coming in with a time of 1:10.81 while Emma Pinto (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional HS) finished 22nd with a time of 1:13.91

To open up tonight's finals, the women's team placed fifth in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Dettelback, Sanidad, White, and Diamond clocked in at 1:55.00. In the 400 IM, Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) took fourth with a time of 4:50.36 while Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan) placed 10th with a time of 4:58.40. White and Dettelback both went best times. In the 100 breaststroke, Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook) finished seventh coming in with a time of 1:09.10 and Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS) finished 11th with. a time of 1:12.59. Sanidad posted a best time during prelims while Sprowls posted a best time during finals. In the final event of the night the 800 free relay team placed sixth with a time of 8:28.43. 

On the men's side, Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) took fifth in finals in the 400 IM with a time of 4:20.22. During prelims, Mona broke the Juniata 400 IM record with a time of 4:18.94. In the 100 fly, Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) placed 14th touching the wall at 56.73. Walker went a best time during prelims clocking in at 56.23. In the 200 free, Frederick Ginder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior High School) took 16th coming in with a best time of 1:50.37. 

The Eagles close out the Landmark Conference Championships tomorrow starting at 10 am.
