Women's Swimming Tops Immaculata and DII Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa.- The Juniata women's swim team swept the tri-meet against Millersville and Immaculata, Saturday afternoon. The Eagles defeated Immaculata 166-71 and defeated Millersville 123-105.

Juniata started off the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook), Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) clocked in at 2:00.24. In the 1000 freestyle, Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) took first touching the wall at 12:03.56 while Emma Pinto (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional HS) finished third with a time of 14:41.90. In the 200 freestyle, the Eagles took the top three spots. Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS) came in with a time of 2:16.55, Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) finished with a time of 2:18.34, and Brubaker finished with a time of 2:19.23. 

In the 100 backstroke, Dettelback finished third coming in with a time of 1:05.81 and Carolann Edwards (Heston, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) finished fifth with a time of 1:19.84. Sanidad claimed first in the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 1:12.57 while Sprowls finished fifth with a time of 1:19.50. Fontes took first in the 200 butterfly touching the wall at 2:25.89. In the 50 freestyle, Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) (28.11) and Brubaker (28.36) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. 

In the 100 freestyle, Canale took second coming in with a time of 1:02.22 while Diamond finished third with a time of 1:03.56. In the 200 backstroke, Dettelback touched the wall second with a time of 2:20.67 and Edwards finished fourth with a time of 2:43.89. Sanidad claimed another first place as she finished with a time of 2:38.48 in the 200 breaststroke. In the 500 freestyle, Canale finished second coming in with a time of 6:18.55 while Pinto finished behind her with a time of 7:15.12. 

In the 100 butterfly, Fontes (1:05.82) finished second and Sanidad finished third (1:05.97). Dettelback finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 5:10.86 and White finished third with a time of 5:17.83. The Eagles finished off the day with a second and fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
