Women's Swimming Drops Meet to DII Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata women's swim team fell, 134-97 to Division II Kutztown University, Saturday.

The Eagles started off the meet with a second place finish in the 200yd medley relay. The team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook), Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) finished with a time of 2:00.72. 

In the 1,000 freestyle, Emma Pinto (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional HS) finished third clocking in at 14:44.28. In the 200 freestyle, Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS) took second with a time of 2:20.07 while Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) finished third coming in with a time of 2:20.80. In the 100 backstroke, Dettelback (1:07.27), Carolann Edwards (Heston, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) (1:16.93), and Courtney Frye (Roaring Spring, Pa. / Central High School) (1:19.30) finished third, fifth, and sixth, respectively. 

In the 100 breaststroke, Sanidad finished third touching the wall at 1:14.54, Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) finished fifth coming in with a time of 1:21.83, and Sprowls finished sixth with a time of 1:22.23. Fontes took the top spot in the 200 butterfly as she touched the wall at 2:26.55. In the 50 freestyle, Diamond (28.38), Brubaker (28.95), and Frye (32.01) finished second, fourth, and fifth, respectively. Diamond took third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:04.64 while Frye finished fifth with a time of 1:11.01. 

In the 200 backstroke, Dettelback claimed the second spot coming in with a time of 2:24.07 and Pinto finished fifth with a time of 3:02.05. Sanidad (2:43.35) finished third and Sprowls (2:51.82) finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke. In the 500 freestyle, Brubaker finished third touching the wall at 6:30.12 and Pinto finished fourth with a time of 7:25.07. In the 100 butterfly, Fontes finished with a time of 1:06.54 while Sanidad came in with a time of 1:07.83. In the 200 IM, Dettelback came in with a time of 2:28.06 and White finished with a time of 2:35.02. 

The Eagles finished out the meet with the team of Diamond, White, Fontes, and Brubaker coming in with a time of 1:55.17 in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Sprowls, Pinto, Edwards, and Frye finished with a time of 2:06.59 in the 200 freestyle relay. 

Swimming returns November 23rd as they close out 2019 at Millersville with Immaculata for a tri-meet starting at 2:00 pm.
