Women's Swimming Splits with Goucher and Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Juniata College women's swim team competed in a tri-meet at Scranton with Goucher, Saturday. The Eagles defeated Goucher, 134-117 but fell, 193-62 to Scranton.

The Eagles opened up the tri-meet with a third place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook), Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) touched the wall at 4:29.54. In the 1000 freestyle, Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) claimed the top spot with a time of 12:00.63. In the 200 freestyle, Brubaker finished seventh coming in with a time of 2:21.38. 

In the 50 backstroke, Dettelback took first with a time of 30.81 while Carolann Edwards (Heston, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) finished eighth (36.11) and Emma Pinto (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional HS) finished ninth (36.90). In the 50 breaststroke, Sanidad finished third (33.80) and Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area HS) finished fourth (35.76). Fontes finished fifth in the 100 butterfly coming in with a time of 1:06.18 while Sanidad finished sixth with a time of 1:06.31. In the 50 freestyle, White (28.17), Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) (28.74) and Edwards (30.38) placed fifth, seventh, and eighth, respectively. 

In the 100 freestyle, Brubaker finished seventh, Sprowls finished eighth, and Diamond finished ninth. Dettelback took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.36, Edwards finished seventh with a time of 1:17.34, and Pinto finished eighth with a time of 1:19.45. In the 100 breaststroke, Sanidad, Sprowls, and Fontes finished second, fourth, and sixth, respectively. In the 500 freestyle, Dettelback placed third coming in with a time of 5:53.43 and Pinto finished eighth with a time of 7:06.81. 

Fontes took third in the 50 butterfly touching the wall at 29.38 and Diamond finished ninth with a time of 34.29. White placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 5:14.50. The Eagles took sixth in the final event; the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Brubaker, White, Sprowls, and Diamond came in with a time of 1:53.21. 

Juniata will host Cal U and Penn St.-Altoona for a tri-meet, Friday November 8th at 6PM.
