Fontes Takes Sixth in the 200 Butterfly, as Eagles Close Out Landmark Championships

GERMANTOWN, Md.- The Juniata women's and men's swim team took eighth place in the 2017-18 Landmark Conference Championship.

Freshman, Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis) was the top Eagle of the night placing sixth in the 200 butterfly in finals. Fontes took one second off of her previous time that she posted in prelims, Sunday morning. She finished with a time of 2:17.23

In the 1,650 freestlye Jackson Hoch (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) had a lifetime best finishing in 18th place with a time of 19:39.83. Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) took 22nd place in the 1,650 freestlye with a time of 22:17.81. 

In the men's 100 freestyle, Martin Berger (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) placed 24th with a time of 53.16 while Stephen Lane (Three Springs, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon) clocked in with a time of 1:07.32. Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) came in 18th place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.15. 

In the final event of the weekend, the Eagles closed out the day with an eighth place finish. The team of Krista Peachey (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin), Fontes, Brubaker, and Angeline clocked in with a time of 4:02.01.
