Eagles Start Off the Landmark Championships Strong with Seven Lifetime Best Times

GERMANTOWN, Md.- The Juniata women's and men's swimming teams started off the 2018 Landmark Championships strong with seven lifetime best times. The Eagles both currently sit in eighth place.

In Friday morning's prelims session, Jackson Hoch (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) placed 26th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.68. He shaved off three seconds from his seed time and went a lifetime best time. 

Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) placed 39th in the 500 freestyle. In the 200 IM, Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) finished 22nd with a time of 2:32.05. Brubaker took off 10 seconds from her seed time, finishing the race with a lifetime best time. 

Sophomores, Martin Berger (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) and Stephen Lane (Three Springs, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon), finished 29th (24.08) and 35th (29.30) respectively, in the 50 freestyle. Berger and Lane also had lifetime best times in their 50 freestyle swims. 

Krista Peachey (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin), Eliis Irv (Hampshire, England / Havant), and Danielle Ochs (Huntingdon, Pa. / Juniata Valley) took 23rd (26.59), 37th (37.69) and 28th (39.05) respectively in the 50 freestyle. Peachey, Irv, and Ochs took off some time from their 50 freestyle's and finished with lifetime best times. 

The quartet of Brubaker, Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), Angeline, and Peachey finished in seventh place ahead of Marywood University in the 200 freestyle relay, clocking in with a time of 1:48.81. 

In the final event of the day, Peachey, Brubaker, Fontes, and Angeline took sixth place in the 400 medley relay. 

The Eagles return to action tomorrow as Landmark Championships continues. Prelims will be begin at 10am while finals will start at 5:50pm.
