Eagles Fall to DII Kutztown University

KUTZTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata women's swim team travelled to DII Kutztown University on Saturday afternoon. The final score was Kutztown 96 and Juniata 51.

The meet started off with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Krista Peachey (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin), Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) came in with a time of 4:50.58. In the next event Angeline took a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time 13:26.91. Brubaker finished the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:21.18.

Peachey (28.82), Carolann Edwards (30.49), and Danielle Ochs (Huntingdon, Pa. / Juniata Valley) (39.61) finished third, fourth and sixth respectively in the 50-yard freestyle. Brubaker came in third place in the 200 yard IM coming in with a time of 2:50.25. Fontes put up strong finish in the 100-yard butterfly coming in second just two seconds behind first place. Peachey put in a season best time of 1:02.52 in the 100-yard freestyle. Ochs finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle coming in with a time of 1:37.51.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Edwards finished with the time of 1:21.32. In the 500-yard freestyle, Angeline came in with a time of 6:30.54. Fontes finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:21.72. In the final event of the meet, the quartet of Angeline, Brubaker, Peachey, and Edwards finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:59.48.

The Eagles return to action December 2nd at 1:00 for their first home meet of the season against Elizabethtown College.
