Juniata Swimming Competes in Chatham Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- The Juniata College men's and women's swim team competed in the Chatham Invitational on Saturday. The women finished with a total of 200 points and the men finished with a total of 45 points. The Eagles raced Chatham University, Allegheny College, and Franciscan University. 

The women opened the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Krista Peachey, Meghan Brubaker, Alex Fontes, and Emily Angeline came in with a time of 2:12.96.

In the 50-yard backstroke, Fontes finished sixth just one second behind Allegheny with a time of 36.93. Angeline came in 10th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:20.16, she also finished just one second behind Allegheny. Brubaker put up a time of 2:42.59 in the 200 yard IM.

Peachy finished eighth in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 35.77, less than a second behind Franciscan. In the 100-yard butterfly, Fontes finished eighth with a time of 1:07.76 and Peachy finished 10th with a time of 1:13.41.

Brubaker (29.35), Angeline (29.56), Danielle Ochs (45.03) and Eliis Irv (47.13) finished 16th, 17th, 25th  and, 27th in the 50 yard freestyle. In the 100-yard freestyle, Peachy finished with a time of 1:03.60, Brubaker finished with a time of 1:04.62 and Angeline came in shortly after Brubaker with a time of 1:06.93. Ochs also finished the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.05.

Later in the meet, Peachy swam the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.06. Fontes finished the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:21.53. In the 500-yard freestyle Angeline and Brubaker put times of 6:26.34 and 6:36.61 respectively. Peachy posted a time of 31.03 in the 50-yard butterfly.

Fontes (1:14.50), Angeline (1:15.98), and Brubaker (1:16.78) finished the 100-yard IM in 13th, 14th and 15th places respectively. In the 200-yard butterfly, Fontes came in with a time of 2:30.19. Lastly in the 200-yard freestyle relay the team of Brubaker, Angeline, Peachy, and Fontes came in with a time of 1:58.19. 

On the men's side, Jackson Hoch finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.17. In the 100-yard butterfly, Hoch finished fifth with a time of 1:12.54. In the 50-yard freestyle, Hoch came in with a time of 27.59. Hoch finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.81. Hoch then swam the 500-yard freestyle where he posted a time of 6:12.71. Hoch finished off his day in the 100-yard IM where he posted a time of 1:13.03.

The Eagles compete in their first conference meet of the season on Saturday for a tri-meet against Goucher and Scranton at 1:00.
