Three Eagles Set PRs at Marywood

THE HEADLINE: Juniata traveled to Marywood on Saturday, Jan. 28 to face the Pacers in its last meet before the Landmark championships. Three Eagles set personal records in their respective events, as the Pacers defeated JC 140-84. 

PERSONAL RECORDS: Elise Kury (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) set personal records in both the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard freestyle. The senior placed third in the 100-back with her time of 1:21.24 behind fellow Eagle, Krista Peachey (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin). Her time of 1:16.27 in the 100-free set a new personal record as well.

Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) set personal records in the first individual event of the meet, the 1000-yard freestyle. Angeline placed second and earned four points for JC with her final time of 12:45.06, beating her previous PR by .65 seconds. Brubaker finished in 13:18.05, over two seconds faster than her PR set at the California University Invite.

TOP FINISHERS: Jocelyn Skelly's (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) 2:31.76 time put her in second place for the 200-yard butterfly. Skelly then earned nine points for JC in the 100-yard butterfly, as she finished with a time of 1:06.79. Peachey was about five second behind her and earned four points for the Eagles.

Freshman Emily Stahl (State College, Pa./State College Area) took third place out of seven competitors in the 50-yard freestyle. Stahl finished .71 seconds after the first-place finisher, recording a final time of 29.30.

RELAYS: The meet began with the 200-yard medley relay. Juniata's relay team consisted of Peachey, Kerry McClaughry (Somerville, N.J./Somerville), Skelly and Stahl. They recorded a final time of 2:10.00, about nine seconds after Marywood's team.

Skelly, Angeline, Stahl and Peachey earned 11 points for Juniata in the final event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team marked a final time of 1:56.26.
