Eagles Record Six Top-Five Finishes at Cal U Invite

THE HEADLINE: Juniata finished the California University (Pa.) Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 21 with 553 points, placing third behind California University (811) and Lock Haven University (660).

TOP FIVE FINISHERS: Jocelyn Skelly (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) and Krista Peachey (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) placed fourth and fifth in the 100-yard back event. Skelly recorded 15 points for the Eagles with her final time of 1:11.36. Peachey was not far behind her with her 1:12.20 performance.

In the 200-yard free, Emily Stahl (State College, Pa./State College Area) recorded a fifth place finish behind one Vulcan and three Lock Haven competitors. She marked a final time of 2:22.47.

Skelly's second-place finish in the 100-yard fly was a team-high for the Eagles. She finished at 1:02.23, behind a record-breaking first-place finish for CalU's Kira Goin.

In the last individual event of the day, the 400-yard IM, Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) finished fourth and fifth. Angeline completed the event at 5:45.58 and Brubaker finished .48 seconds behind her.

RELAYS: The first event of the morning was the 200-yard medley relay. JC's relay team of Peachey, Skelly, Kerry McClaughry (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) and Stahl finished in sixth place (2:10.64). Elise Kury (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), Nadia Moss (Narragansett, R.I./St. Margaret's School, Va.), Maiya Mastovich (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) and Angeline followed in seventh (2:26.92).

The 400-yard free relay rounded out the Invitational. Stahl, Peachey, McClaughry and Mastovich finished in fifth place with their final time of 4:23.50, earning 28 points for Juniata. Kury, Moss, Brubaker and Angeline earned 26 points for the Eagles with her final time of 4:45.53.

UP NEXT: Juniata's next meet is on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Marywood, starting at 1 p.m. After Marywood, the Eagles will prepare for the Landmark Championships.
