Juniata Held Off by E-Town

THE HEADLINE: Juniata's women's swimming was back in action on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Elizabethtown. The Blue Jays won the meet 181-55.

FIRST PLACE FINISHERS: Jocelyn Skelly (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) was the only Eagle to place first in an event. The sophomore finished with a time of 1:04.65, hitting the wall six seconds before E-town's Maddie Ripley.

Kerry McClaughry (Somerville, N.J./Somerville), Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) each finished second in their respect events. McClaughry (200-free) and Brubaker (100 IM) were two seconds behind the Blue Jays' first place competitor.

RELAYS: The meet began with the 200-medley relay. The Eagles' relay team consisted of Angeline, McClaughry, Skelly and Emily Stahl (State College, Pa./State College Area). The four placed third in the event with a final time of 2:11.09, less than a second behind second place.

The last event of the day was the 200-freestyle relay. Juniata had two relay teams competing. Stahl, Angeline, Maiya Mastovich (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) and Skelly finished third overall in the event with their time of 1:57.56. Elise Kury (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), Brubaker, Elena Diaz de Marco and Nadia Moss (Narragansett, R.I./St. Margaret's School, Va.) rounded out the event with their final time of 2:07.39.

UP NEXT: On Friday, Jan. 20, Juniata will compete in the first day of the California Invitational at 5 p.m. The invitational continues at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21.
