Cal-U Invite Prepares Eagles for Landmark Championships

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Juniata women's swim team concluded the Cal-U Invite with several top performances Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Jocelyn Skelly (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey High School) swam a time of 1:00.09 in the 100-yard butterfly, placing first. Skelly also placed first in the 50-yard butterfly, swimming a time of 27.33. Senior Tzvia Cahn (San Jose / Kehilia Jewish) placed third in the race, finishing with a time of 29.27. Cahn also placed 5th in the 100-yard freestyle race with Christine Whiteman (Delmont / Franklin Regional) right behind in sixth place. Skelly and Cahn joined with Hannah Shumway (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) and Sarah Rhodes (Bloomfield, NY / Bloomfield Central) to place second in the 400-yard medley relay, collectively swimming a time of 4:26.64.

Sophomore Elizabeth Hainsworth (Glade Spring / Patrick Henry) placed third in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 5:50.07. She was followed close behind by Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) in fifth place and Whiteman in sixth.

 "The team swam well today," head coach Nathan Smith said. "We used this meet as an opportunity to swim a lot of events, so any swim close to best times were exceptional."

The Eagles will return to action on Feb. 12 at the Landmark Conference Championships.
