Eagles Dominate Rangers 115-59 at Conference Meet

MADISON, NJ – The Juniata women's swim team resumed their season in dominating fashion and took a Landmark Conference win 115-59 against the Drew Rangers Saturday afternoon. 

Seven event wins paced the Eagles into victory. JC took wins in the 1000-yard freestyle, 50-yard free, 100-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard free, 500-yard free and 200-yard freestyle relay.

"The team swam great today," head coach Nathan Smith said. "Their hard work during our time off from competition showed itself through the fast swimming." 

Elizabeth Hainsworth (Glade Spring, PA / Patrick Henry) took the win in the 1000-free at 12:14.13. Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, PA / Central Dauphin East) followed in second at 12:16.24, reaching an in-season best in the event.

In the 50-free, Tzvia Cahn (San Jose, CA / Kehilia Jewish) paved the way with a first place finish and in-season best at 26.38. Jocelyn Skelly (Hershey, PA / Hershey) followed at 26.81 and Maiya Mastovich (Johnstown, PA / Westmont Hilltop) in fourth at 30.91. 

Sarah Rhodes (Bloomfield, NY / Bloomfield) recorded an in-season best in the 100-yard IM at 1:07.29 and finished first. 

Skelly continued to swim well throughout the meet and picked up a victory in the 100-yard butterfly. She swam an in-season best at 1:00.61.

Francesca Ferguson (Altoona, PA / Altoona) took the top honor in the 100-free with a time of 58.26. Cahn finished right behind her teammate at 58.69.

Hainsworth earned another win for the Eagles in the 500-yard free at 5:54.31.

The relay team of Hainsworth, Ferguson, Skelly and Cahn won the 200-yard freestyle relay by nearly four seconds at 1:46.66.

Juniata heads to California University of Pa. Jan. 22 and 23 for their final meet of the season before the Landmark Championships.
