Four First Place Finishes Lead Eagles at Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, PA – The Juniata women's swimming team won four events at Kutztown University Saturday afternoon but the Bears took the meet 151-100. 

Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, PA / Central Dauphin East) picked up nine points on her victory in the 1000-yard freestyle. She cut off 16 seconds from her seeded time to finish at 12:22.16 for an in-season best. 

Jocelyn Skelly (Hershey, PA / Hershey) picked up wins in the 50- and 100-yard butterfly. Skelly finished at 1:03.99 in the 100-fly, beating out her opponents by just over seven seconds.  In the 50-fly, she edged out Kutztown's Kara Jones by .32 seconds for the victory. Skelly's time of 28.44 is an in-season best for the swimmer. 

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Skelley, Francesca Ferguson (Altoona, PA / Altoona), Christine Whiteman (Delmont, PA / Franklin Regional) and Tzvia Cahn (San Jose, CA / Kehilia Jewish) added 11 points to the Eagles' effort with a winning time of 1:49.38. 

Sarah Rhodes (Bloomfield, NY / Bloomfield Central) recorded two in-season bests against the Bears. In the 100-yard breaststroke, she finished at 1:19.23 and in the 200-yard IM, she finished with a time of 2:35.34. Rhodes placed third in each race.

Angeline also recorded an in-season best in the 200-IM with a time of 2:36.59.

Juniata heads to Swarthmore, Pa. next weekend for the Swarthmore Invitational.
