Women's Swimming Competes at Chatham Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Juniata women's swimming team continued their season at the Chatham Women's Invitational on Saturday. 

 

Freshman Jocelyn Skelley (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey High School) swam a time of 1:02.89 to place first in the 100-yard butterfly and a time of 28.55 to win the 50-yard butterfly race. Skelley combined efforts with Hannah Shumway (Slippery Rock / Slippery Rock), Caitlin McCann (Chevy Chase, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase), and Tzvia Cahn (San Jose / Kehilia Jewish) to place third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.29.

 

Cahn placed 3rd in the 50-yard freestyle and 5th in the 50-yard butterfly while Shumway placed 4th in the 100-yard backstroke. Shumway's time of 1:08.96 was a season best. Sophomore Ellie Hainsworth (Glade Spring / Patrick Henry) placed 4th in the 500-yard freestyle with senior Chrissy Whiteman (Delmont / Franklin Regional) following in 6th place. Whiteman and Shumway finished the 200-yard backstroke in 3rd and 4th place, respectively.  Shumway's time of 2:29.98 was a lifetime best.

 

The Eagles will return home to host Scranton and Goucher next Saturday, Nov. 7. Start time is at 1 p.m.
