Eagles Host Drew in Final Meet Before Landmark Conference Championships

 
 

HUNTINGDON, Pa., The Juniata College women's swimming team hosted Landmark Conference rival Drew University in a head-to-head dual meet on Saturday. The Eagles came out with a 98-85 victory.

 

 "The team had a great meet today, with some very strong swims from upper and underclassmen. The team is starting to show speed and have kept improving week after week", proclaimed head coach Nate Smith. He added, "It's good to have another win under our belts and we are looking forward to some great performances at the Landmark Championships.

 

The team of Hannah Shumway (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock), Caitlin McCann (Chevy Chase MD  / Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Meghan Swavely (Hummelstown, PA / Palmyra), and Tzvia Cahn  (San Jose, CA / Kehilia Jewish) placed first overall in 200 meter relay

 

Shumway and Swavely placed 2nd in the 100-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle respectively. Swavely and Cahn finished 2-3 in the 100-meter freestyle. Alyssa Peachey (Hummelstown, PA / Lower Dauphin) came in 2nd in the 200-meter IM, She and her sister Kristin Peachey  (Hummelstown, PA / Lower Dauphin) placed 1-2 in 100 meter butterfly.

 

Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, PA / Central Dauphin East) and McCann placed finished 1-2 in 800 meter freestyle as Angeline and Ellie Hainsworth (Glade Spring, VA / Patrick Henry) in the 400-meter freestyle. Hainsworth also finished first in the 200-meter freestyle. Hainsowrth, Cahn and the Peacheys placed first in the 200-meter freestyle. McCann later came in 2nd in the 100-meter breaststroke.
