Swarthmore, Pa., Women's swimming was one of six teams competing at the Swarthmore Invitational this weekend. The team finished fourth after 36 events.

Speaking after the first night of competition on Friday night, head coach Nate Smith was very impressed with how his team has continued to progress this season, "I was happy with our races tonight.  We had some great performances tonight including lifetime bests from six of our swimmers.  Tzvia Cahn (San Jose, CA / Kehilia Jewish) had an obvious highlight with a win in the 50-yard freestyle. We also had our freshmen stepping up and swimming best times.  For this point in the season, we had encouraging races that demonstrate the team is on the right track."

Cahn placed first overall in the 50-yard free with a time 25.26. Teammate Megan Swavely (Hummelstown, PA / Palmyra) finished 6th in the event at 26.50.

The team Swavely, Cahn, Elizabeth Hainsworth (Glade Spring, PA / Patrick Henry), Christine Whiteman (Delmont, PA / Franklin Regional) finished third overall 200 yard freestyle with a 1.45.37. Swavely, Cahn, Kim Proenca (Thornton, PA / Cardinal O'Hara), and Hannah Shumway (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) also placed third in the 200-yard medley. Cahn, Swavley , Hainsworth, and Alyssa Peachey (Hummelstown, PA / Lower Dauphin finished third overall in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The team does not return to the pool until January 10th at the Susquehanna Tri-Meet.
