Eagles Capture Nine Wins to Pick up Tri-Meet Victory

MADISON, N.J. – Juniata women's swim team won nine events to help give the Eagles their second conference meet of the season at Drew University Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Emily Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) and freshman Erika Fimple (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) each picked up two individual wins on the day.

 

The Eagles kicked off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team comprised of senior Hillary Palmer (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayette County), Nye, Fimple, and sophomore Tzvia Cahn (San Jose, Calif./Kehilla Jewish) captured first in 1:55.28.

 

In the 50 free, Nye and Cahn went 1-2, respectively. Nye also picked up a win in the 100 breast.

 

Fimple won the 200 IM and 200 fly, while sophomore Caitlin McCann (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) won the 200 breast in 2:45.94.

 

Palmer finished first in the 100 back in a season-best 1:02.60. She also placed second in the 200 IM.

 

In the 200 free, sophomore Chrissy Whiteman (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional) placed second in 2:10.11.

 

Juniata finished off the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. Nye, Cahn, junior Mary Kate Meingossner (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), and Fimple clocked in at 1:44.25.

 

The Eagles head home next Saturday Jan. 25 for their final home meet of the season against Penn State Altoona.
