Women’s Swimming Third after First Day of Swarthmore Invite

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Juniata women's swimming team is sitting in third place after day one of the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday evening, Nov. 22.

 

In the opening 200 free relay, the team comprised of freshman Erika Fimple (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby), junior Meghan Swavely (Hummelstown, Pa./Palmyra), sophomore Tzvia Cahn (San Jose, Calif./Kehilla Jewish), and sophomore Emily Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) captured a second place finish in 1:42.88.

 

Juniata finished 3-4 in the 200 IM with Fimple clocking in at 2:19.49, followed by senior Hillary Palmer (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayette County) with a time of 2:19.83.

 

In the 50 free, Nye placed fourth at 25.29 and Swavely took sixth at 26.13.

 

The team of Palmer, Fimple, Swavely, and Nye finished third in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:17.03.

 

The Eagles accumulated a total of 153 points through the first 5 events. Ursinus College is leading the field with 336 points.

 

The Swarthmore Invitational concludes on Saturday, Nov. 23 with races beginning at 9:30 a.m.
