Juniata Finishes Second at Chatham Invite

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Juniata women's swimming team finished second at the Chatham Invitational Saturday after beating out three other teams by scoring 570 points.

 

The Eagles picked up six wins and the same number of second place finishes.

 

Freshman Erika Fimple (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) single-handedly picked up all four of the Eagle's individual wins. In the 200 IM she swam a time of 2:19.31, followed closely behind in second by senior Hillary Palmer (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayette County) with a time of 2:21.85.

 

Juniata had a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 IM, with Fimple finishing first, sophomore Emily Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) finishing second, and junior Meghan Swavely (Hummelstown, Pa./Palmyra) placing third.

 

Juniata's relays picked up the two other wins on the day. The 200-medley relay comprised of Palmer, Fimple, Swavely, and Nye captured first in 1:57.93. This same group teamed up in to win the 200-freestyle relay in 1:44.21.

 

The Eagles next head to Scranton for their first Landmark meet of the year on Saturday, Nov. 9. The competition against the University of Scranton and Goucher College is set to begin at 1 p.m.
