Women’s Swimming Splits at Bryn Mawr, Defeats Host But Falls to Dickinson

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata women's swimming won four of 11 events at Bryn Mawr College Saturday morning as they defeated the hosts 119-82, but fell to Dickinson 126-78 to move to 5-4 overall this season.

Junior Hillary Palmer (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayette County) and freshman Emily Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) each won an individual event, placed second in another and were a member of the first place 400 medley relay team.

Nye set a personal record in the 100 free, winning the event in 57.90 seconds.  One of the Eagle's dominant sprinters, she went on to place second in the 50 free, .18 seconds off from leader Meredith Davis of Bryn Mawr.

Palmer won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.33, just .18 seconds off her fastest time this season.  In the 200 IM, she finished just 1.10 seconds behind Dickinson's Caitlin Klockner for second place.

Sophomore Raegyn Taylor (Huntingdon, Pa./Home school) was the only other Eagle with an individual win.  She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.16, nearly a second ahead of the second place finisher.

Juniata will have a bye week over the holiday before continuing its road campaign at the Swarthmore Invitational Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 to close out contests before the new year.
