Juniata Tops Chatham and Franciscan in Tri-Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Juniata women's swimming team won 12-of-16 events to top Chatham University and Franciscan University in a tri-meet Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles finished with 308 points, while host Chatham earned 170 and Franciscan finished with 103, respectively.

 

Juniata went 1-2-3 in four races during the day, taking first and second in three others.

 

Junior Hillary Palmer (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayette County) was the Eagles big winner on the day. She won the 100 IM, 200 IM and 100 backstroke. 

 

Palmer also finished second in the 50 free behind freshman Emily Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg).  The pair finished within one-hundreth of a second to each other with Nye grabbing first in 26.22 seconds and Palmer finishing in 26.32.

 

Nye also won the 50 backstroke and placed second in the 100 free and third in the 100 IM.

 

Juniata returns home on Saturday, Nov. 10 to host Goucher College and the University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference tri-meet.  Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Binder Natatorium.
