HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata women's swimming took away two wins in Saturday afternoon's tri-meet against Penn State Altoona and Hood College.
Juniata defeated the Lions 79-14 and took down the Blazers 75-20.
The Eagles took first in nearly every event with the exception of the 100-meter breaststroke.
Sophomore Falon Snyder (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), freshman Mary Kate Meingossner (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and sophomore Kelsey Miles (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) each took first in two of their solo events.
Snyder clinched first in the 800- meter freestyle with a 10:27.08 time, almost 30 seconds faster than her competition. Snyder came out and sprinted to first in the 100-meter butterfly finishing in just 1:15.92.
Meingossner took home gold in the 50-meter free reaching the wall in just 29.99. She switched over to backstroke and swam 100 meters in 1:11.50 to take first.
Miles swam the 200-meter free in an impressive 2:18.96 to win first place and went twice as far in the 400-meter free with a 4:57.35 time good enough for gold.
All three swimmers also competed in the squad's first place winning 200-meter medley relay accompanied by sophomore Kathryn Viola (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East). The team finished with a time of 2:13.08.
Viola reached the wall first in the 200-meter individual medley with a finishing time of 2:34.99.
Freshman Shayna King (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) also grabbed a first place finish in her 100-meter free solo event. King won the race with a time of 1:05.10.
Juniata caps its 2011-12 season with Landmark Conference Championships beginning on February 10.
