Women’s swimming falls to Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Juniata women's swimming dropped a 102-71 decision to the Eagles of Lock Haven University Friday night in Zimmeril Gymnasium. 

Juniata opened the meet with a first place win in the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:59.71 time. Freshman Mary Kate Meingossner (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) ran the opening leg, followed by sophomore Kathryn Viola (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) who swam the breaststroke. Freshman Meghan Swavely (Hummelstown, Pa./Palmyra) and Shayna King (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) rounded out the relay team who earned 11 points for the Eagles.

Senior Marysa Milinichik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) brought home a first place finish with a time of 6:10.91 in the 500 yard free, finishing nearly 37 seconds before her competition.

Meingossner took a second place in the 50-yard free and reached the wall third in the 100 yard free with times of 26.85 and 59.22 respectively. 

Sophomore Kelsey Miles (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) also posted a second place finish as well as a third in the 200-yard free with a 2:05.52 time and in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:12.14. 

Juniata capped the evening with another first place win in the 200-yard freestyle. The squad was made up of sophomore Hillary Palmer (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayette County), Miles, Swavely, and Viola. 

Juniata returns to the water tomorrow as they travel to Susquehanna University for a Landmark Conference meet against the Crusaders and Drew University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
