Eagle swimming falls to Scranton and Goucher in tri-meet

TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Lindsay Cooper (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and senior Kristin Musselman (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) finished first and second in the 50 Freestyle, to lead Juniata College finishers in a tri-meet with Landmark Conference rivals Goucher College and the University of Scranton, Saturday afternoon in Towson, Md. 

Cooper captured the 50 Free in a time of 26.74, while Musselman placed with a time of 27.03. The pair also finished third and fourth respectively in the 100 Freestyle, posting times of 58.91 and 59.56 seconds.

Evan Beatty (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) finished third in a pair of events: the 1000 Freestyle, where she posted a time of 11:56.40; and the 500 Freestyle, where she finished in 5:47.61. Kelly Serfling (Frederick, Md./Urbana) earned second-place points in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 3:02.99.

As a team, Juniata fell to Goucher College, 54-37, while the score against the University of Scranton was 65-28 in the Royals’ favor. Saturday’s meet wrapped up the Fall semester portion of the Juniata schedule; the Eagles will return to competition on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, when they host Susquehanna University at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
