Eagles Settle for Scoreless Draw to River Hawks

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team settled for a scoreless draw on the road to Landmark Conference opponent Susquehanna University on Wednesday night.

Chances were rare for both sides, with each side generating three shots on goal, with eight total shots across the 90. In goal, Avery Zales saved all three shots on goal.

Mckaye Wilton generated the first shot of the game three minutes, as Alyssa Bui played a ball over the top, but Wilton's shot from 18 yards out was right at the keeper.

Susquehanna's first shot came off a free kick from the right side in the 20th minute, as a player headed the ball down to a player at the six-yard line, and she forced a diving stop from Zales on a low shot.

Just a minute later, Amelia Yordy won the ball at the edge of the half-circle and played a through ball past two River Hawks to Lina Rahman, who fired a shot right at the Susquehanna keeper with pace.

Susquehanna's next shot came in the 25th minute on a roller from 18 yards out right to Zales. Juniata's third shot of the half came from Ashley McWilliams in the 30th minute, as she fired a shot from 25 yards on the left side to the keeper's near post for a controlled save to wrap up chances in the first half.

There was one lone Susquehanna shot wide early in the second half, the only shot registered by anyone in a quiet second half.

The Juniata women's soccer team travels to Moravian on Saturday for a 3:30 pm kickoff.
