Colonels Strike Twice to Ground Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to visiting Wilkes University on a windy Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

The Colonels found the back of the Eagle net in the seventh minute when their winger got the ball just inside the 18 and fired it over Avery Zales in the net into the top left corner.

Two minutes later, Amelia Yordy beat the keeper to a loose ball near the endline to the left of the goal and tried to fire it in the net on a tight angle, but it rolled just right of the goal.

Emma Greggo fired a speculative shot in the 39th minute that the Wilkes keeper managed to save.

The visitors held a 5-2 in shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Colonels doubled their lead in the 62nd minute on a shot from 20 yards out the nestled into the bottom right corner of the net.

Prior to today's match, the Juniata women's soccer team seniors were recognised as part of Senior Day.

The Eagles will host Lycoming on Tuesday at 7:00.
