Eagles Fall on the Road Due to Rangers Late Goal

MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata women's soccer team dropped a tight 1-0 match on the road at Drew University to open Landmark Conference play Sunday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.

The Rangers controlled the first half, as they held JC without a shot and managed eight of their own. Cati Besch handled the four that were on target.

In the second half, the Eagles cooked up their first shot four minutes in. Ashley McWilliams laid the ball off to Alyssa Bui, 30 yards from the goal. Bui played it over the right back into the box as Amelia Yordy ran onto it. Yordy fired towards the far corner, but the ball was just wide of the goal.

In the 57th minute, McWilliams got the ball on the left wing, got past two defenders, and bent the ball towards the far corner, but it bounced off the inside of the post.

In the 75th minute, Drew played the ball into the box from the left wing off a dead ball. It bounced once before a Ranger tapped it in to break the tie.

Juniata couldn't find an equalizer in the final 15 minutes.

Besch made six saves in goal for the Eagles.

Juniata will return home to host Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday at 7:30.
