McDonald's Brace Leads Eagles Past Elmira

ELMIRA, NY- The Juniata women's soccer team scored twice in the second half to earn a 3-1 win on the road at Elmira, Tuesday afternoon at Elmira College.

Twenty five minutes in, Elmira was awarded a penalty following a foul in the box, but they missed wide right of the goal.

Eight minutes later, they found the back of the Eagle net off a free kick that saw the Elmira attacker tap the ball in after it was played into the box.

In the 42nd minute, Mariah McDonald scored off an Alyssa Bui corner kick to even the score at 1-1 as the teams headed into the locker room tied.

Eighteen minutes into the second half, McDonald did it again as Bui played in another cross, Camille McRoberts was first to the ball at the back post and headed the ball back across the middle to McDonald, who nodded it in to put Juniata ahead.

An Amelia Yordy goal from the penalty spot in the 70th minute doubled the lead and cemented the Eagle win.

Julia Lane made six saves in net to help Juniata get the win.

The Eagles will host Kings, Saturday at 2:00.
