Women's Soccer Earns First Win of the Year Against Pitt-Bradford

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team responded to an early goal from visiting Pitt.- Bradford as they came back to win, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

Juniata created a chance early as Amelia Yordy burst past the Panther backline down the left side and fired a shot that the Pitt.- Bradford keeper parried.

The visitors found the back of the Eagle net in the 11th minute via a free kick. They took the set piece a few yards from behind the 18, with their player bending the ball into the left corner of the net.

Savanna Murray looked to equalize right off the kickoff as she ripped a shot from 12-yards away, but again the Panther goalie was equal to the task. A few moments later, Gillian Dell was all alone in the box and got her head to the ball, but it went wide off the goal.

In the 23rd minute, Alyssa Bui played a ball from the left side of the goal. Emma Greggo met it at the near post and poked it past the keeper to knot things at 1-1.

The Eagles kept up the pressure and dominated the first half as they outshot Pitt Bradford 13-2 in the first half.

Twenty-seven seconds into the second half, the Eagles found their winner as Colleen O'Brien crossed from the left, and Yordy knocked it in.

Juniata continued their siege on the Panther goal with a further 14 shots but could not find the back of the net again, so they had to settle for the 2-1 victory.

Julia Lane got the win in goal for the Eagles, making two saves in the win.

Juniata begins conference play this weekend when they host Moravian for Homecoming Saturday at 4:00 pm.
