HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team fell 3-0 to visiting Albright Thursday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
The Lions were on the front foot early and kept Avery Zales (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area HS) busy as she registered two saves in the first nine minutes while the JC defense blocked another.
In the 28th minute, Alyssa Bui (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill High School East) rifled a shot on frame from the right side, but the Albright keeper was equal to the challenge. Ten minutes later, Colleen O'Brien (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) got a shot off, but again the Albright keeper managed to stop it.
The visitors found the opening goal in the 40th minute when a cross from the left-wing bounced once in the box, and an Albright forward nodded it in to make it 1-0, which was the score at halftime.
Albright struck again in the 81st minute when a lobbed shot from the left-wing took a hard bounce and nestled itself in the far top corner to double their lead. Three minutes later, the Lions extended their lead with a blast from outside the box that rocketed into the top of the net to complete the scoring.
The Eagles return to action at home Saturday when they play Cabrini. The kickoff is at 2:00.
